My name is Larry Hiles and I have had the great fortune to be the husband of April since 1994. I have three children: Taylor, 25 (she is married to Joshua Buck and they have an infant daughter, Delaney), Preston, 22, and C.J., 18.
I made a decision for the Lord on January 4, 1995, the moment I realized God’s love was shown through the grace of Jesus Christ on the cross. I was called to ministry in 1997 and have served as a Lead/Senior Pastor at three congregations before accepting the call to First Baptist Church of Groveland. My hobbies include fishing, bowling and coaching (football, bowling and life). I completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Christian Ministry from Hope International University (2012) and am nearly finished with a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University. There is one goal I live by every day: “…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:10-11, ESV)
Believing the local church is the hope of the world and, as such, our goal at FBC Groveland will be to create a place where everyone who walks in the doors will have a chance to experience the pure LOVE of Jesus Christ through the love we have for one another. Second, it will be our goal to ensure everyone who places themselves in a position to GROW will become more like Jesus Christ. Finally, it will be our goal that every person who has declared Christ to be the Lord of their lives will be equipped to GO into the world with the life-changing message of the Gospel.
